November 13, 2014

This video clip  from the middle of November is a request from one
of the visitors at Lewinskis that night.
I am happy that I still could find it in my computer so that I could publish it.
I had, at that moment when I recorded it, problems with the computer I use for my blogg and
because of that I could not put it up directly... but now it works again.

There was a problem with the skis when they all the time were
sliding in the opposite direction.I think they were in need of some ski wax,
but we made it anyhow.

Collectable Dolls

Yes, I know this is typical American style, and I actually picked up this "hobby," from my closest friend Betty Valentine, while I lived in Florida.
I think she had more than 250 dolls?!
We even visited the big doll show that they have in Daytona Beach every year.

My collectable doll collection has now got 4 more dolls.
I think I have 10 all together, but it can be 12 as well, or  maybe 15?
The other ones are in the storage in Finland and when I have not been living there for 10 years I don´t remember any more how many I have. But anyhow I have now bought 4 more from the second hand shop, and I think they are so beautiful. The biggest one is a little bit special when she can sit on her own when the legs are prepared different.

Yesterday I was cleaning them up when they were a little bit dusty and
did not smell so good.
Now they have a fresh smell but I will give them a little shower of perfume in a flavour that fit their outfits to make them complete.
Now there is only one problem; Where can I put them?
I must get a bigger home!

I washed their faces, arms and legs using  wool pads with "quit fat" spray and
vacuum cleaned their bodies. Their faces, arms and legs are made of porcelain and their eyes look like real ones. They even have real eye lashes!

And then I, of course, had to look over their hairdo.

Our Trip To Puerto De La Cruz

This last weekend we went up to Puerto de la Cruz again to spend our day off there.
Like many times before we slept at a hotel over night.
Saturday night we had our dinner at restaurante Regulo, which is our favourite.

Me waiting for the dinner.

I had fillet steak filled with Chamembert cheese in pepper sauce.
A plate I recommend you to try if you will pay a visit.
It was so lovely taste and so tender and nice that I think I had a smile upon my
face all the time while I was eating.

This restaurant is a good one. They have got many diplomas and even a recommendation of Michelin! So don´t miss it out if you visit Puerto de la Cruz!!!

After the meal we went to Plaza Charco for a drink and sat there and watched the Canarians dancing.
3 hours just disappeared when it was so much going on .We saw everything from professional dancers to real Cassanovas and we had so fun watching them, what they all were up to. He,he! It was like a good show!

Next morning we had breakfast at the hotel and then about 11am we started our
journey down to Los Cristianos. It was raining and heavy thunderstorm!

The more close we got to Sta Cruz the worse the weather turned.

We had to watch the road carefully because every now and then the lids of the street wells just popped up and it came like a water fountain out from them. Really scary!

The weather turned worse and worse and we finally almost could not see the street.
And the sky was filled with lightnings and thunders.
We started saying that we will probably not get down to Los Cristianos and since we have seen a lot of photos from the heavy rains last year we understood how dangerous this is.

The rain water was flushing down the mountain walls and finally arrived at the streets where we were driving. We had to take an other trip to get to the motorway that goes down to south. The tunnel before Alcampo was filled with water and many cars were trapped inside there. Good that we saw it in the last second or we would have been there too. And good that Brito knows Sta Cruz (he lived there for about 10 years before). He knew how we could drive to avoid the worse places and all the tunnels and he made 2 choices, that we know, that with wrong decision would have caused our car to drown in the water masses. When we looked down to these two places where we normally would have been driving, we saw other cars floating around there.

This was how it looked every now and then while we were moving toward the Autopista Sur.
We saw cars on a street further down that had water up to the windows and that were floating around on the street! But I was so busy helping Brito looking on the street and all the water that I did not get any good photos. The most of the well lids had disappeared and we were so afraid that we will drive into a hole because then it would be the end of our driving.
Good luck that our car did not stop while we passed all the water masses! We had sometimes to stop on higher hills, one time for about half an hour, to wait for the water masses to get down.

Finally at Autopista Sur (The motorway south) we ended up in a line of
cars that were driving very slowly. Big stones falled down from the mountain walls, or was flushed down by the water masses, everywhere! Really dangerous!

The slow traffic was because parts of this mountain wall had started coming down and
the police were there checking out that every car could pass safely.

It was a lot of waterfalls everywhere and the streets were so dirty. It must take months before the streets are cleaned up again, if they ever will be clean again?

As you can see our Puerto de la Cruz trip turned out into an adventure. I thank God that we are alive after all. While it was the worse I thought that we could be flushed away with the water masses somewhere and die. They say that it is only one woman who has died during this bad weather, but the damage is of large-scale.
Our drive from Puerto de la Cruz down to Los Cristianos lasted over 3 hours. It normally takes  about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

GEL NAILS

Finally, after almost 3 weeks of waiting I now have got my own ´Nail Studio´.
It comes from Germany.
The customer in Las Palmas seams to be a little bit complicated on this kind of stuff,
but everything has now worked out fine and I have got my box.

I decided to by my own equipment after one of my nails broke one night before I went to work, and there were no time to hurry out to the nail saloon, and I had to sing the whole night with an ugly broken nail. Now Im more relaxed, because if something happens I can just start up the "owen" and fix it quickly on my own. Lovely!

I used the table out on the balcony this time but will soon make a little nail studio inside the apartment. We have plans to make one room to become like a big walk in closet so that we can dress there and that´s where I will place the "gel nail desk".
But it´s a lot of work when we must start it all up by painting the walls + buying new curtains and blinds and wardrobes and shelves + a big mirror...
When it comes to the colour of the room it will be black and white.
I will show you later when it´s done.
The room is at the moment filled with stuff that we place out in the apartments that people rent, but before Christmas it will be almost empty and then we will rent a storage in the springtime, when we get all the apartment stuff back.
We also have plans to re-furniture some of of our apartment (+ buy some new furnitures) and all this will now keep us extra busy for a while.

I bought a professional kit so that I also got the electric drill which is
really a blessing when you are shaping the nails and quit the old gel.

It´s easy to make your left hand but the other one not.
Brito says he is interesting in learning it all so that he can make the nails for me
in the future. Interesting!
I have been studying how to do it while I waited for the kit to arrive.
There are many educational videos on Youtube.com.
But it would be nice if we could get real people to test on, so that
we can can become professionals more quickly.
But then next question is; Do we have time to sit and prepare nails for people?
It takes about 1,5-2 hours to make 10 nails.

This is how my first nails looks, made on my own,
I like to keep them short when they will grow longer during the 2-3 weeks the gel last.
The design has already got a name; White Strawberry!
You will get to see my different nail arts in the future when I will publish them here on my blogg.

I celebrated my new nail studio and nails by having a glass of champagne!
Cheers!

La ViƱa

This is how our wine plant looks now.
We will probably not get grapes this year, but you never know!
It´s Brito who takes care of it. If I would it would probably die in a while like all my plants before.
Brito has "green fingers" like we say in Swedish, and all the flowers on our balcony grow with speed and enjoy the life. He,he! He even talks to them sometimes when he nurse them. I have heard it!

Puerto De La Cruz Sept. 20, 2014

Again we spent our day and night off in Puerto de la cruz.
Last time was 2 weeks ago even when I have not been blogging about it.

this time we decided to take "a new road" to Puerto de la cruz.
We drove up the west coast of the island and then picked  a road that goes down from Tierra del Trigo to Los Silos.

Guarachico from above.

Before you start driving down you  also can watch Los Silos from above...

...and the most of the northern coast in the direction of Puerto de la cruz..

I took this photo to show you the road that is ahead. Looks almost like a snake!!!
This is where we are gonna drive! Imagine I have lived 10 years on Tenerife and never been here before! Tenerife is filled with "pearls" and it takes time to visit all the places.
Guess if I kept my breath!

I does not show how it is in real on a photo, but it many times looked like the road was disappearing.

Brito sitting out on the balcony after the arrival at the hotel.
We made it!I mean the route down the mountain where it in many places was not much of protection fences from not driving the shortest way down  the valley.

Me tasting the wine at Plaza del Charco..

My first plate, typical Canary; Potaje de Berros. First time in life and I really like it!
Must have it again!!!

Me and Brito enjoying the meal and the day off.
