Oasis Mango 13.11.2008

We had a lovely night yesterday.
Many guests were dancing and we had about fifteen
to twenty line dancers visiting our new place.

Please click on the arrow and watch the video clip.

Boot shopping

We also went to this boot shop today.
It's located at the path leading down to the beach outside hotel Santiago 4.

They have got many nice boots!

Clas bought sancho boots with real rattle snake skin.

The shop from the outside.

Aren't they beautiful?

Our day off

We decided to get up early this morning to get out the most of the day.

The Vista Sur Playa.
The weather was perfect with a temperature of + 27 degrees.

We went to Scandicshop to have a breakfast.
This time we had meat ball sandwiches.
They have got really delicious sandwiches and
I like to recommend you to go there and try them.

It's difficult to understand that the Christmas is coming to town
now "in the middle of the summer".
Some shops have already started decorating their windows.

I said the other day I need a sweater with "holes".
Today I saw one I like and bought it directly.
I will probably have it on already tonight when we go out
for dinner with our friends Frances and Mick from England.

I have tried many different mascaras the last months but
think the Diorshow mascara is still the best one.
I always used it before but decided to change to be sure I don't
miss out the latest stuff on the market.
Now I'm back to the normal again and it feels good.

Warning!
There's a fan blowing warm air straight up from the ground,
through iron bars, outside Hotel Santiago 4!
When ladies walk over it the skirt is standing straight up so
that everybody can see the underpants.
Clas' T-shirt went like a balloon when he stood there.

We have also spent time at the pool today.

The water is very cold but some people are brave enough to have a swim.

Our first night @ Oasis Mango

Our first night at Oasis Mango was a good one.
It was about 130 guests and the restaurant was very crowded.
The dance floor was packed the whole night through and over 30 line dancers visited us.

Thank you all who were there to support us the first night!

Tuesday - Our last night off

We start working tomorrow night again, but then we are
in the new place called Oasis Mango here in Los Cristianos.
We have been there the whole afternoon setting up the sound system.
Oh, how interesting it's gonna be tomorrow to see if we get any guests in.

We decided to have a barbecue on the balcony tonight when
we feel little bit tired of eating out in restaurants all the time.
We'll get the dinner every night at Oasis mango like we did at Lewinskis.
I appreciate it much when it would be too early to go out in the afternoon to have the dinner.

Tonight Clas made chicken for us on the grill.

My plate. It was very delicious!

I bought these Mimmi Mouse shoes today.
I like them so much and they are very comfortable.

Clas has bought new percussion instruments for me
and I will try to play maracas tomorrow night in some of the songs.

I look forward seeing some of you at Oasis Mango tomorrow.
Have a good night sleep! Good Night!

8000 Visitors!

Thanx a lot to all of you reading my blog.
Soon we'll pass 8000 visitors together!

Monday night

Here some photos from our last night.

We went to Fortuna Nova for dinner.
We were very early and the first guests for the night
inside the restaurant.

We both had a cheese salad as a starter.

Then we had grilled ribs and jacked potatoes.

The desert.

After the meal we went to Harry's bar to have a drink.

The waiter at Harry's bar.

Our drinks.
Clas had a `Harry's Special´ and I had an `Orgasmo´.

Ray Stone at Lewinskis.
We visited tonight to say good luck and welcome back to Los Cristianos.

Our night out

After the dinner last night we went over to Tarahales
to be together with some of our English friends.
It was a lovely night.
The restaurant hasn't got any dance floor but
we were dancing on the beach walk instead.
Please, click on the arrow to watch the video clip.

Sunday

Today Clas has been doing the mastering job on three new songs for me and I have been sitting out on the balcony in the sun doing the rehearsal of them.
I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to sing them already on Wednesday, but I will soon start singing them.
Wednesday night will be quite tough for us, when it's our first night in the new place, and I don't like to make it worse by taking new songs that night.

I have also been planning the play lists today and they are now ready.
If the songs fit together or not we´ll see when we start playing...

This was our Sunday night dinner :

We went to the Asiatic Wok restaurant for dinner.

Our starters.
Asian soup, clams, prawns and Chinese bread with warm sweet and sour dip.

Starter number 2.
Sushi and some more different Chinese breads with different dips.

Three deserts.
NB! The size is about a table spoon each and
the spoon on the plate is a tea spoon!
Important to say when you probably start thinking we
eat too much every night.
I haven't gained weight but I have a period when
I don't loose weight either, like it seams.

To be honest...I had one more plate!
Please, click on the arrow to watch when
the chef is preparing it for me.

Saturday Night

Today Clas and our friend Paul from England have been moving all our equipments from Lewinski to Oasis Mango.
Thanx to Paul! He is such a gentleman!
Normally people don't like to be involved when somebody start moving.
It's such a hard work!
But he said himself he can come and help and even bring his car so that we get everything moved. Very, very nice!

Clas didn't like me to be involved when there wouldn't be much space in the car if we were three persons and I had to stay at home.
I have been doing a lot of ironing instead and now all our outfits are clean and ready prepared to use in the next place.

I have also been working with the play lists of our backgrounds.
I tried to plan them so that we can play only line dances the whole night through if we get only line dancers one night. And so that we can play only couple dances the nights when we have a lot a couple dancers. And so that we can mix them every second song the nights when we have both line dancers and couple dancers.
It's not easy to figure it out and I have only got the first hour we play ready so far.
I will continue working on it tomorrow.

The photos below show what we have been doing tonight.
We only get a few days of vacation now between Lewinski and Oasis Mango and we don't get time to fly anywhere, but we try instead to enjoy the nights by having nice meals out on town when that's the only luxury we can get right now...But it's okay!
We both look forward to start in the new place and can't almost wait until Wednesday.

We spent last night among the Scandinavian friends and tomorrow we'll be together with some of the English friends. More photos after tomorrow night.

We went to Toro tapas and grill restaurant for dinner.
First we had mussels in garlic sauce as a starter.
We like this starter and we always have white new
baked bread with it that we dip in the garlic sauce. Delicious!

This is the wine we had.
It's from Crianza and so good that I like to recommend it.

Clas took a photo of the palm tree outside the restaurant.
Isn't it beautiful?
It was dark outside but the camera is so good that it looks
like the photo have been taken in the afternoon.

As the main course I had fillet steak of pork with
a red wine sauce. It was so lovely!

Clas had fillet steak of beef with
tryffel and maderia sauce.
We have had it many times before and it's very lovely.

We went in to a shop in the neighborhood of the restaurant,
after the dinner, and found this beautiful elephant there.
Couldn't resist to buy it and now it stands like this in our apartment.

On the way back home we slipped in to Harry's Cocktailbar
in Los Cristianos and had our favorite drinks.
I had a grasshopper and Clas had a San Fransisco.

Our first night off

This is what we have been doing on our first night off.

First we went for dinner to Asian Dream.
We had papadrums and the dips that belong to it as a starter.
Then we had a tandoori mixed plate
with basmati rice and two different sauces.
One of the sauces tasted coconut and the other one cinnamon.
The coconut sauce is my favorite.

Then we went to Scandicshop to listen to
Carina and Lasse who were playing there.
Scandicshop has started arranging music nights
every now and then on Fridays.

It was many Scandinavians there.
Many came and told us they will come
and see us Wednesday when we start at Oasis Mango.
It looks like our first night is going to be crowded. We'll see...

Oasis Mango

It was our last night at Lewinski yesterday.
We were very crowded and it was a mess to try to arrange space for everybody on the dance floor.
We tried to keep one space for the line dancers and an other for the couple dancers but every now and then some of the couple dancers were dancing straight into the line dancers and in the end I told them that the one who continue doing it will be locked up on the toilet.
He,He! It worked! But it was only a joke!

We are going to have a couple of days of and Wednesday night (12.11) we start playing again but then we are at Oasis Mango in Los Cristianos.
We will play there six nights a week from 9-12.
Fridays will be our days off.
Many people promised yesterday to come and see us already Wednesday, when we start, and we are so happy for that.

Oasis mango is a hotel in Los Cristianos. They have got a nice restaurant on the ground floor.
The venues will be open for everybody, not only for the hotel guests, and we are happy to now get the possibility to play inside. No chilly winds and cold chairs anymore when we are inside.

Tomorrow it's normally our day off when we don't do much, but we have a lot of programs.
First we'll go to the Scandishop for breakfast and change the sign we have there.
Clas is making a new sign for us now in the middle of the night.

After that Clas will go to Lewinski and start removing the gear we have there.
Then Saturday all the stuff have to be moved to the new restaurant.

I have got a lot of work at home tomorrow doing ironing and other home jobs.

Then in the night we are going out for dinner. Where I don't know yet.
We are going to spend the night with the Scandinavian people tomorrow. That's all we know so far.
I will put up some photos from the day and the night later.
Have a nice day! Now I'll go to bed!

Busy, Busy, Busy...

The girls who are waiters at Hooters are every now and then
entertaining the guests with a dance show.

We have been busy all day long, but I decided to make a short post before I go to bed.
I need a short nap before we go to work and Clas is already in the bed.
We had an appointment with the director of a hotel here in Los Cristianos in the afternoon and after that we went by taxi to the Hooters in Las Americas to have a late lunch.

Please, check out our websites/blogs again soon to be updated.
There's a big change going on right now and we will be very busy preparing for it the next days.
Tomorrow I can tell you all about it when it's not a secret anymore after this evening.
Have a nice evening. XXXooo

The President of The United States

Congratulations to Barack Obama!

Lewinski 04.11.2008

We were very busy last night.
So busy that some people had to turn at the entrance ramp, in the middle of the night, when there were no free tables left out on the terrace.
It was a lot of Scandinavians (about 60%) but also many from England and other countries.

Many of the "winterbirds" who stay here in the wintertime are arriving now and we get happy surprises every night when they suddenly show up.

If you come to Lewinski and there are no free tables left, please, come in and take a chair at the bar and wait and the waiters can arrange a table for you as soon as possible.
Sometimes somebody leave after a while and you can have their table.
There are also more tables and chairs inside the restaurant that can be carried out.

Please, click on the arrow to watch the video clip.

Our Secret

Now the winter is here. It's very cold (20-22 degrees) in the nights on the terrace of Lewinski so don't forget to bring a warm jacket when you come to see us.

I promised to tell you about a secret about two weeks ago. Here it comes:

We have been looking for a new place for a long time, a place where we could be inside, but it's not easy.
We need a nice restaurant with at least 150 chairs and a big dance floor.
There are many restaurants but the most of them have only got place for up to 80 guests and no dance floor.

There are some different restaurant owners who like to do business with us which is very exciting, but so far we have backed off from everything they have been able to offer us, only because of the lack of a big dance floor.

We have been out inspecting many different places the last two weeks and today we have been looking at a new one again.
We decided to think about it for a couple of days.
The restaurant is very nice and there's even a dance floor but the location is a little bit on the side of everything. But it's in an area that has got a lot of tourists.
We'll see. I tell you as soon as we have decided.

Please, check out our websites, before you leave for Tenerife, to be sure you'll find us.

The restaurant we have been looking at today.

I tip my hat

I tip my hat for Scandinavian (SAS) and Norwegian Airlines.
They are helping the stranded tourists of Sterling Airlines, that went bankruptcy last week, back home to Scandinavia for free!

We met three ladies from Norway last Saturday and they had been traveling by Sterling to Tenerife and told us the Norwegian Airways will take them back home for free.
I also read in the Scandinavian newspapers that they help tourists home from other places.

It's so lovely to know there are still companies run by hearts in this tough world.
They don't have to do it for free, but choose to do it that way to just be nice to the affected people.

Some would say it's just PR. But who can afford to fly passengers for free when the competition has reached the edge and many go bankruptcy?
They could earn money out from it! Let's say they could sell the return tickets for half the price and still keep a good image.

I am sure it will pay back in the future. There is a spiritual law that says you´ll reap what you sow and that means there's already a blessing waiting in heaven to be poured out over these companies. Yeehaa!
I hope they will overcome the hard times. They deserve it!

People and Companies that operates in a spirit of helping and giving will be prosperous!
That's what the bible says and God is not a lier? Is he?

Give and it will be given to you!

We went for lunch to the Asian Wok restaurant
yesterday before the Grand Prix.
I love Sushi and had that as a starter.

Congratulation England!

Lewis Hamilton did become Formula One's youngest ever champion yesterday in the most dramatic fashion after finishing fifth in the season-ending Brazil Grand Prix at Interlagos.

As title rival Felipe Massa of Ferrari cruised to victory at his home grand prix, a late-race rain shower looked set to rob Hamilton of the championship after a stop for wet tyres dropped him to sixth, but he managed to overtake Timo Glock's Toyota with just seconds to spare as they entered the pit straight.

Oh , it was so interesting that I almost forgot to breath.

"It's pretty much impossible to put into words," a clearly emotional Hamilton said of his victory. "It's been such a long journey - all the sacrifices we've made, I'm so thrilled to do this for everyone.
"It was one of the toughest races of my life."

The Halloween

Very Nice! The Halloween is finished for this year.
I don't like the event and to see people dressed up like devils.

Three demons were visiting Harry's Cocktail bar last night while we were there.
They walked around out on the terrace begging for money (trick or treat).
They were all adults!

In Las Americas we saw a young girl about 20 years old, on the street outside Veronicas, with devil horns on the head and with a skirt that was so short that you could see the underpants.
She really looked like a fairy and I wouldn't be surprised if she turned the male devils on so that they liked to kidnap her and abuse her sexually.
I would be so scared to be dressed like that at Veronicas, which is the area of Las Americas where the most crimes take place.

Why are people celebrating the devil a night like this?
It ought to be a night when you should think about the near and loved ones
who have passed away, but many prefer to try to create an image of the hell.
If you didn't know better you could believe it's the birthday of the devil instead. Couldn't you?

Our night in Las Americas

We are back home now and we have had a lovely night.

First we went for dinner to Greek Corner in Las Americas.
The restaurant owner Selim is a nice and humble guy from Lebanon.
He stands himself as a PR out on the street every night.
The interior is very groovy with a lot of wine grapes up in the ceiling.
We like the Greece food and try to visit Greek Corner once a month,
but the last month we were so busy that we didn't get there.
The restaurant was very crowded yesterday.
After a while there was no free tables.

This was our starter.
Sorry, I forgot to take a photo and the plates are almost empty.
We had pita bread with Tsatsiki + an other sauce I don't know the name of ,
+ feta cheese salad + pirogues filled with cheese and spinach.
Really lovely!

As the main course we had grilled chicken + meatballs of lamb
+ rice + a kind of Greece lasagne .
Sorry I don't know the name of the lasagne.
Is it called moussaka?

The view from Harry's Cocktail bar.

After the dinner we went by taxi to Harry's Cocktail bar at the
Safari Commercial Center in Las Americas.
It's on the second floor opposite the Piramides de Arona,
also called the Mare Nostrum Hotel.
Here you can have the best drinks in the south of Tenerife.
The bartenders are using a measure to get the right mix and
you can be sure your favorite drink will taste the same year after year.
It's a very popular place but a drink is 8Euros,
which is about twice of the price compare to other restaurants.
Our opinion is that it's worth the price.
Here you'll never be deceived and you get the drink you order.
No local bad spirits in your drink!

Normally I never have drinks, but in this place I always order a
drink called The grasshopper because I like it so much.
It's made of mint and chocolate liqueur and very mild.
It almost tastes like the Mint-Chocolate ice cream of the Value Brand in America and there are no other restaurants who know how to mix a grasshopper in Tenerife!
I have asked for it before but they don't know what it includes.

Clas had a San Francisco.
You don't see drunk people in this place when it's a high class on everything. It's the only place where we ever order drinks in the south of Tenerife.
In other restaurants we order beer (which I hate to drink) and
Clas sometimes order a whiskey.
Jeagermaister is also nice if you start feeling ill after a meal.
A Jeagermaister is a Jeagermaister and nobody can fool you.

After the drinks we went to Malibu at The Compostella Beach hotel
to check out the situation.
We hoped to meet some Scandinavians there but
they didn't have many guests and it was very quiet.

We decided to sit down for a while and ordered a small beer each
but we got two small beers each.
They told us it was the "happy hour"which means they give
twice what you order for the same price.
The time was 11.30 in the night!
In other restaurants it's "Happy hour" between eight and nine o'clock in the evenings.
But they have changed their habits and keep "happy hour " all night long like it seams.
We decided to leave some of it and went home by taxi when we felt so tired.
I don't like to get drunk and we have to work tomorrow again.
Now we'll go to bed.
Good Night!
