Beauty shopping

I will show you some more things that I bought the other day.
I like all these products and would like to recommend them.
I have tried many other cleansing products but prefer these from Estee Lauder.
The nail polish is very beautiful on and the color of it is my favorite right now.
I always buy my make up in the same store here on Tenerife (Mego) and the ladies give me a lot of testers every time I go there.

This is what I bought there last day.
Cleansing milk, Tonic water, Eye makeup remover,
white nail polish with glitter.

This is what I got for free.
A Biotherm bag, Helena Rubenstein Collagenist night cream,
2 Lancome Teint Renergie lift cream, 3 Lancome energie morpholift cream.

This is my favorite powder.
I had to buy it in an other shop when Mego don't sell it anymore.

The big plant

I am quite proud of this plant!
It has so far stayed alive for about one year on our balcony and it has grown very big.
Really a miracle!
Normally all our plants die after half a year when nobody of us are good in taking care of them.
In the small pot to the right are the mint plants we got from a lady on La Gomera last year in May. They are also a miracle!

A nightmare

I had a dream last night that a family with a baby came to see us at the restaurant where we played.
They had visited our venue here on Tenerife before and they were so happy to be back.
Their little baby boy was so cute and I hugged him.
Then I suddenly saw that he had a lot of white small louses behind the ear.
I didn't say anything but took a couple of steps backwards.
Then I looked down on my hands and there were a lot of louses creeping around.
I became so chocked that I woke up immediately.
Thank God it was only a dream!
I have like a phobia when it comes to insects, spiders and worms.

I will go to bed now... Hopefully I don't continue dreaming about louses.. *shiver*

The bargains

Oh, what a terrible expression!
This dress looks so cute live, but here it
more looks like a dress of a scrub lady.

I also bought the big necklace and the bracelet.

These two pieces will be good when the spring comes
and it gets warmer, but I need some nice accessories.

No signs - Many signs

La Karina 7.30 tonight. No signs!
It looks deserted.

The restaurant next door. Many signs!

Shopping

It was very sunny today I was out shopping.
I will take photos of some of the stuff later and show you...

First I had a breakfast at Fados.

In the dress room at Stradivarius.

New Agenda!

We play 6 nights a week until the Easter.
This is where you'll find us:

Restaurant La Karina (close to hotel Sol Tenerife and Treasure Island in Las Americas)
Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday 8.30 - 11.30.

Restaurant La Karina Country (at the path between hotel Vulcano and hotel Andorra in Las Americas)
Thursday, Friday, Saturday 8.00 - 11.00.

No signs

There are no signs with us anymore at La Karina.
Please, don't think that we are not gonna play the nights when we ought to be there!
The police have again forbidden us to put up any signs.

We think it's not fair when all the other restaurants have signs.
But we can't do anything about it. You have to obey the police in Spain and when they say something it's like a law. If you start question it you'll probably get more problem.
It's not like in Scandinavia where the police have to act in fair and you can complain about it if they don't.

We don't know why they are acting like this, but maybe it's because La Karina now is one of the most crowded restaurants in the south of Tenerife.
Many nights there are a lot of people standing out on the street watching and waiting to get in and the surrounding restaurants are almost empty.

It's not the first time we get problem with the police.
Last year they took or signs at Lewinski and locked them in behind a fence in a village called Busanada and we had to pay to get them back.
And they were complaining about the sound all the time and we couldn't almost have any party in the end of the nights when the volume had to be so low that you couldn't get any party feeling at all. It was very boring to play because of this and we felt very sad about it.

They said the signs were standing on the property of the government even when they did not!
Both our signs were hanging on the fence of Lewinski and didn't even touch the ground and they were about 5 meters from the sidewalk with the lawn in between.
Lewinski was the most crowded restaurant in Los Cristianos at that time and many said it was because of that we got the problems with the police.

Clas went to La Karina today and took away our sign to be sure it will not disappear.
The restaurant owner is now moving us three nights a week to play at his other restaurant, La Karina Country, and we will try to put up our light sign there instead. :-)

La Karina Country is not far from where we play now. It's located between Hotel Andorra and Hotel Vulcano at the path going between these two hotels.
The restaurant reopened about two weeks ago and was before called Tuscany.
The menu is the same as at La Karina and the restaurant looks nice when the owner has made a renovation after he bought it.
More about which days we'll play in next post!

On the dance floor

Oh dear, Why can't some of our guests behave on the dance floor?
They dance in a high speed without taking any notes of the other dancers.
Many times using the elbows to be really evil.
A couple of days ago it again looked like a fight was on the way,
but praise God it stopped before it really took off.

The war is always between the couple dancers and the line dancers.
Many of the songs we play fit both styles and that's when the problem occur.
The most of the restaurants here on Tenerife don't have any constabularies who take care of offending guests. And the only thing we can do is to stop the music immediately and hope it will solve the problem.
We have many times, where we played before, had people high on drugs interrupting the guests and us on the stage without any effort.
Ones a guest took over and throw out a guest!

Before at Lewinski we some nights had to start acting like the police
when some of the guests never stopped pushing.
We tried to split the dance floor in two areas, one for the couple dancers
and the other one for the line dancers, but somehow there were always
some guests who "forgot" about the rules and stepped in high speed
straight into the line dancers area so that they loosed the steps and almost fell over.
I mean "forgot" because you could see on some of them that they did it on purpose!

This resembles harassment and it's very childish when adults start ganging up each other! Stupid that I even have to blog about it!
In our place all the dance styles are welcome and we don't accept any kind of abuse on the dance floor.
Anybody who has attended a dance class knows that there are rules about how to behave on the floor! Do you need a repetition? Click here.

It's not fun when some guests start feeling upset and leave the restaurant.
We like all the guests to be happy and with just a little kindness between
the dancers we think it will be alright.

Later we had a fondue dinner out on the balcony.

Making Mexican coffee which includes tequila on fire.

Line dancing in the snow

Isn't this a nice photo?
We got it through the facebook from our friends Frances and Mick in England a couple of days ago.
They are partner line dancing in the snow in Horsham which is south of London, close to Brighton.
We look forward seeing you in March!

Greetings

Greetings to our friends Tove and Jan Egil! They are now going back to Norway, but will be back after six weeks. We look forward seeing you then!

Our schedule February 5-8

We are in a time of change when we soon will start playing 6 nights a week.
It's a lot to arrange for the restaurant owner before the puzzle is solved and what we know so far is that we will play even on Saturday this week, at La Karina.
That means we'll play there Saturday, Sunday this coming weekend. (7th & 8th of February)
We are now only off for two days instead of three days; Thursday, Friday.
More information about next week as soon as we know.

My Outfit Tonight

Maybe there are too many photos in a row now, but this is how I look tonight.
We will soon leave...It's very windy and cold even when the sun has been shining the whole day.
Have a nice evening!

My New Sun Glasses

My breakfast

This is what I had for breakfast today.

Coffee, QuickLorraine and cherry cake with almonds.
Really out of the diet!

Tres Guapos

These three "guapos" were dancing at La Karina last night.

La Karina 03.02.2009

It was very crowded last night again.
Some guests had to stand and wait for a long time before they got a free table and some gave up and left.
There are 200 seats at La Karina, but this time in the year we sometimes need 250-300 seats.
People were even dancing out on the street while they stood there.
Remember to be in good time before we start playing to be sure you get in.
Before 8 o'clock you probably will be okay. We start at 8.30.

Please, click on the arrow to watch the video clip.

"Life enjoyers"

Clas surprised me with a nice fish meal tonight.

Not much is happening right now.
We are only eating and I have been on the internet almost the whole afternoon.
I have become terrifying lazy at the moment! I mean in some peoples eyes...

First when I woke up today I decided to sunbath on the balcony, but after a while I changed my mind when I saw all the clouds.
Not fun at all! Who like to look like a pale ghost on Tenerife?

If you live up north it's okay to be pale. Then you have to explain if you suddenly show up with a tan on your face in the middle of the winter.
Here on Tenerife it's a shame to be pale when that means you spend a lot of time inside your home in the daytime.

To be normal here you have to be out in the sun, spending time with the tourists and the "winter-birds". That's what the most of the people do.
Clas full-filled his duties today and made a rapid trip to the Scandishop.
I haven't showed up for many days now!

Like always we run our own rules.
The life for us is to be able to do exactly what we like to do at the moment, and so far it has worked out well. Maybe you can call us "life enjoyers"?
We do what we do, we eat what we eat, we buy what we buy, we sleep when we sleep...etc.
The only must do for us is that we must play the nights we play, and that's just fun. We both like to sing and play and it feels more like a hobby than a work.

To live like this works well, because you don't only like to do fun things. You don't like to be lazy all the time!
As an example we both like to have things in order, and when the home starts looking unclean or in disorder we get a strong desire to start doing something about it. Then it suddenly is fun to work like a horse.
Why do things in the moment when you feel it's not fun?
The life rules itself if you just leave hold of the reins. Doesn't it?

Nice dinner

Thanx to Nicke on Facebook who gave me the idea tonight to make the pork fillet steak with a taste of sweet&sour and honey. It was lovely!

Roses

I got these roses last week from two different men in the audience.
Aren't they beautiful?
They are very big and the one to the right is over one week old and still in such a good condition.
I really wonder how long they will stay fresh.
However Clas don't have to buy any roses for this weekend either.
Normally he buys a bouquet of roses every Friday.

The thing is that there is a man walking around selling roses in the area where we work now.
He walks around the tables at La Karina, every now and then, and sometimes people buy from him. Most times the men buy a rose to the wife or to the fiancee.

At Lewinski, where we worked before, a lady was walking around selling paper roses.
I got quite a lot of them and one night when we had anniversary we got many in the same night.
It's good to be an artist! Isn't it?

Our night off

We are off for three days again.
Tonight Clas made a lovely dinner on the balcony.
He was grilling curry chicken and I boiled rice to have with it + we had some vegetables + a sauce made of sour cream and sweet & sour salsa + Vina Norte with red cap, which is the best wine that is produced here on the island in our opinion.
It's a long time since we last had a barbecue and like many times before I forgot to use the camera and now there's only the dishes left in the kitchen.
Sorry! I Hope for better luck next time.

Broken heel

I will tell you a secret...or... I don't know if it's a secret... but...
Thanks to the "kitchen ladies" not many people saw what happened last night at La Karina!

We were playing "Y viva Espanja" and when I was dancing and jumping on the stage one of my heels broke off and i suddenly were standing there with one high boot and one low boot.
Oh, what a shame!

First I tried to put the heel back in place but it fell off when I moved the foot.

Then I put the tambourine down on the floor, trying to stand on it to get balance. But it didn't work when the tambourine stood straight up every time I stood down on it.
I tried to continue dancing like nothing had happened standing on the toes.

Finally Clas took a tape out from the box of the mixing console, and taped around the nail that is inside the middle of the heel and I put it back in place and stomped on it and we could continue the show like nothing had happened. The heel stayed there the whole night through!

I think only four people at the tables close to us saw it!
The ladies who work in the kitchen like the "E viva Espanja song" and last night they came out to dance again and the audience were so surprised by their presence that they didn't see what happened on the stage. Good luck for me!

I will now bring the boot to the cobbler to ask if he can fix it.
Hopefully I don't have to throw them away. I think I have used them only five or six nights so far. I bought them last winter.

It's not the first time this happens! It has happened about five times before with other boots when I have been line dancing and jumping with the weight kept onto the heels.

I don't know what you think when you read this... but maybe it's time for me to get into a diet?
Or do you think they make weak heels in Spain?

Facebook members

Clas and I have now become Facebook members.

Millions of people use Facebook everyday to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they know.
It's almost like a blog when many keep on updating what they are doing at the moment.

I don't know how much time I will spend on the site, when I'm already busy with my blogging, but it's quite interesting to read about all you know and what they are up to etc.
It's a good way to stay updated and you can get new contact with people you haven't seen for many years.

If you like to become a facebook member you just surf in and sign in at
facebook.com
Then you can start building up your network by inviting all you know to be your friends.

Natural gas to Israel

Here some news and thoughts about Israel - Hamas - Palestina:

Over 88 billion cubic meter of gas has been found in the Mediterranean sea 90 km west of the northern harbor of Haifa.
That means Israel will not have to depend so much on the gas supplies from Egypt anymore and they will earn some extra money too. A nice contribution to the state funds.
Or would you call it a nice blessing in the right time?

The elections in Israel will be the 10th of February. Benyamin Netanyahu is the most popular among the prime minister candidates and on second place is Livni.
Imagine I have met Benyamin in real! Unbelievable!

Israel is now preparing for the next fight: The one against the Media and the Court process.

Hamas has started torturing members of Fatah (The Movement for the National Liberation of Palestine). At least three members have got there eyes cut out and about 100 persons have been killed or injured. The most of the media keep silent about it.
It's probably not clever to mention it now when they have been defending Hamas during the war blaming Israel for all what have happened to the Palestinians. Where is the sympathy for the Palestinians now?

Hamas is a terrorist group that like to annihilate Israel, but they also do terror against the people in Palestine who don't agree with them.
They don't feel any guilt when they have involved the civil people of Palestine in the war.
Instead they say it was good they gave them the possibility to die like martyrs for their Gods sake.
If that really is true... Why did they then hide themselves like scared rats, down in the underground of Gasa , during the Israeli attacks? Stupid!
