Fiesta De Paella

Yesterday Jesus made a big paella and invited some friends to come and eat.
Brito helped him out and they did everything from buying the ingredients til
preparing the meal + doing the dishes.
Jesus is a very good cook and it was for sure the best paella I've had so far in my life.

My first plate.
All the sea monsters were prepared from fresh, bought in the morning, and
they were in many different types.

This is some kind of sea monster I've never had before but it tasted good.
I will tell you the name later...
Ok, Brito says they are called 'Navajas'.

Jesus(son of Brito), Antonio Jesus (Brito), Lisa and Jesus.

It must have been some kind of lack of fantasy when it comes to
the male names here on Tenerife.
Really many men are called Jesus or Antonio or both.

Lisas brother Kjell and his wife Inger and their daughter Nora.

Me opening a box of chocolate.

Nora is very brave.
The photo was taken a couple of days ago at the Jungle Park here on Tenerife.

The Carnival

The Carnival is starting here in Los Cristianos this coming week but
today they had like a pre-start at the nursery school close to where I live.
We could watch it from the balcony after we had finished the meal.

.

'Family Meal'

Jesus and Brito.

Today we had like a 'family meal' on my balcony.
Britos son Jesus visited us. He is in the same age as my own sons
and I have a real good relationship with him.
He is studying and lives in an apartment here in Los Cristianos and
sometimes he spend time with us.
Brito see him every day when he is using the internet at his office.

This is the meal I made today:

First we had a creamy zucchini soap with small toasted bread filled with cheese.
Then we had Beef Stroganoff with mashed potatoes and salat.
Then Coffee and a shot of Orujo.
I'm sorry I didn't remember to take photos of the plates...
but they said anyhow they like it all.

Brito and me.

Jesus and me.

Almosa

This is only an omelet but it is anyhow a lunch and Brito thought it was nice.

My life is slowly but steadily changing now. It becomes more and more normal.
I get up earlier in the mornings (sometimes between 8 and 9) + get to
bed earlier in the nights (about 1 or 2 o'clock).

Some days I even make the lunch or the dinner for us. I like at the moment to
pot around in the kitchen and I'm just hoping I will not make him too spoiled.
He really enjoys getting the opportunity to try the Scandinavian cuisine, and
I'm just thinking about what I'm gonna serve him next.

Before the breakfast was the same as the lunch for me, and I always had
the dinner in the nights at Lewinskis.
Now I'm having breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper.

He,he! Now you think about my weight! Don't you?
Yes, I've again gained about 2 kilos, but I've started thinking there is a time for eating and an other time for loosing weight and it seams like I am in the period of eating at the moment.

The problem is that I like to use stuff like cream, cheese and Cream Fraishe in my cooking.
I know it's not healthy but what don't you do when you like to impress on somebody?
All this stuff make everything taste much better!
It's like a cooking secret of mine!
It's possible I serve him only vegetables in all kind of forms in the future!
I mean when I get into the 'loosing weight period'.

.

My Aloe Vera

I waited and waited...Thought it would spring out in a full bloom, but no!
Then Brito told me the flower only looks like this. It never gets bigger.
This is the final result of my Aloe Vera plant blooming.

I'm very proud!
My flowers have many times died after about 6 months,
suffering from not getting enough water.
I have so to say improved a little bit in taking care of flowers.

Lunch at Vargas

Me and Brito in the restaurant.

We had the lunch at Vargas yesterday.
Vargas is one of my favorite restaurants here on Tenerife.
Both the food and the service are very good and you can have many
different plates from the typical Canarian cuisine.

I like the Canarian mojo sauces.
I put a little bit on the bread and together with the wine from a local
wine yard it's just delicious.

This fried 'Queso blanco empanadas' was really nice!
I will for sure have it next time again.
It's white cheese coated with egg and breadcrumbs.

'Garbanza'. It was marvelous!

The sweet 'Morcilla' sausage. I have it every time we go here.
Just can't miss it out!

.

A 'Statue' in Puerto De La Cruz

Some of the 'statues' here on Tenerife are really acting like real statues.
They don't move whatever you do and you can't get them to change countenance.

Here I try to look like a statue too, but the result is a shame.
I just look glassy-eyed.

At the moment Brito took the photo I jumped up in his
lap thinking he will for sure smile or loose his 'poker face', but No!
He didn't even move!!!

Then I tried an other trick... I turned around pretending I am going to
kiss him on the mouth, but he just continued being like dead.
I think this man was born a statue!!!
Maybe I should try to tickle him next time?

Linedance Class In Las Americas

There's a line dance class at Hotel Club Atlantis in Las Americas.
They meet ones every week, on Wednesdays 10.30 - 12.30.
Last week the new line dance called 'Calypso Mexico' was taught in the class and
two days ago 'Burlesque' was taught.
The class is open for everybody who like line dancing and the teaching is in English.
The charge is 2€ each and ALL proceeds go to buy food for the stray, abandoned dogs at "Live Arico" and K9 refuges.

Many times when a new line dance is taught in the class we make a practice, during the first break, the next night on the Lewinski terrace.
If it's needed the teachers make a step through.
I made a video clip yesterday when the dancers were practicing the last two new dances.

Last night was really lovely even when my tooth was aching all night long.
I've got antibiotics and on Monday the dentist will start working with the tooth.
He has to take out the nerve and refill it.
He couldn't do anything right now when there is an inflammation.
I also eat Ibubrofen 600mg for the ache but it doesn't help completely.
It's aching all the time and I'm so tired of it.

Queso De Artesanos De Canarias

A glass of 'Canarian Cosecha wine (Guachinche wine) a la northe' + this cheese on a
Tuc-crackers + seedless grapes. Oh, it can't be better!
It's just delicious!!!

A Canarian friend of us, Pedro, has a goat farm here on the island in San Isidro.
He knows how to make different Canarian cheeses from the milk and yesterday we got one as a gift from him.
Oh, the taste is so lovely!!! This is now my favorite cheese.

It has got a very mild taste of the goat milk in a mix with a taste that is quite the similar as the taste of the Parmesan cheese.
You store the cheese in room temperature and it lasts for months.
They don't sell these 'handicraft cheeses' in the shops, but sometimes you can have them in the Guachinches if you ask. There are a few different types.
The one we got is called; Queso artesano de cabra curado al gofio.

I WILL SING TONIGHT, Thursday.

Wednesday, March 02, 2011

Off Tonight!!!

Tonight, Wednesday, I'm not able to sing.
I have got an inflamation in a tooth and my face is very swollen and it aches terribly.
I can barely open the mouth.
I've got an appointment at the dentist this afternoon and hope he can get it fixed so that
I can sing tomorrow.
A few minutes ago I took a photo to show you but it didn't turn out well when it
almost looks like normal. My cheek is much more swollen in real.

Tenerife Northe

The coast line in Puerto De La Cruz.

Last weekend I went with Brito up to the north of the island.
We went on Friday and returned in the Saturday afternoon and stayed in
a hotel in Puerto De La Cruz in the night.

The harbor in Puerto De La Cruz.

Me and Brito in the Mercedes Mountains.

The view at our balcony at the hotel in Puerto De La Cruz.
Teide has got a lot of snow on the north side of the mountain.

The pools. We were at the 8th floor.

Brito in the car.
We didn't spend much time at the hotel.
We just checked in and then we went for a Guachinche tour up in the mountain villages.
We both like to go to Guachinches and try out the food they serve.
It's at the moment like a hobby for us.

Many streets fall steeply in the north of the island.

This is in La Orotava.
This town has got a lot of the beautiful Canarian balconies.

More balconies.

The beautiful 'Liceo' of La Orotava.

We visited a few different Guachinche restaurants.
This one is very special.

This sign is a little bit funny.
It is said in pure Canarian and in a quite ill-mannered way.
In English it would be something like;
'Relax from you Mondays and Tuesdays, Take it easy!?'

Puerto De La Cruz by night.

The view from a mirrador in the Mercedes Mountains.

Also in the Mercedes Mountains.

We went down to a village called Taganana, on the north side of
the Mercedes mountains.

Here the weather was very cloudy.

We only had a short walk and took some photos.

A Taganana kiss. We both laughed like crazy when we watched this photo.
We look like two fishes! Don't you think so?

Me in Taganana.

On the way down to the south we visited this Guachinche in Guimar.
Looks like a normal house...

Inside the restaurant.
First it was not many guests but 10 minutes later the place was packed with
Canarians and there were people waiting outside too.
It's a popular restaurant and the food is very good.

The first plate; Croquetes.

The second plate; Chicken and Pork al la brasa.
Very delicious!

Misunderstanding

Sorry I made some of you confused in my last post.
I said I will remove all the clothes that are not mine from one of
the wardrobes... and it sounded like I'm borrowing clothes from other people.

I have NOT been wearing clothes that are not mine for about 30 years!
I did borrow clothes from my older sisters when I was young but since I became
older I only use my own clothes.

The clothes I'm going to remove are some clothes that belong to my X-boyfriend who
don't live on Tenerife anymore. I will put them in a box instead in case he comes back
and like to have them. That's why I said I'm going to remove the clothes that are not mine.
I just need more space for the new outfits that I have bought!

Today I have been cleaning the apartment the whole afternoon.
