Good Beers At The Players Lounge

It sparkles all the time while you drink it!

The ice cream look.

The foam stays on the inside of the glass!

An English friend taught me in the beginning of the summer how a good beer should be served. It's really a big difference between a beer and a good beer!

1.The beer has to sparkle all the time while you consume it. Then it's good!

2. It's best if it's served in a Carling glass, but a Strongbow glass is also okay.
If it's served in a pint glass the sparkling stops very soon!

3. The glass has to be absolutely dry! If it's not the sparkling stops!

4.The white cap on the top of the beer should look like an ice cream and be higher than the
edge of the glass.

5. When you drink the beer the foam from the beer should be left on the inside of the glass all the way down to the bottom. If it does you've got a good beer!

Cheers!!!

Money On The Clothesline

I have at the moment some money hanging on the clothesline out on the balcony.
After finishing the work tonight I went for a night snack to the Bananas bar in Valde center.
When I got there and opened my bag I realized the cap of the water bottle, that I had inside the bag, had went off.
Everything was soaked to the skin. Even my purse!
Hopefully there will be no strong winds on the balcony tonight.

Monday Night about 8.30pm

It's a lot more of tourists in Los Cristianos now.
This is on the beach walk, Monday night, when I went for dinner to The Players Lounge.
Tourists everywhere!
Please, click on the photo to get it larger and you can see all the people.

Like always I had the ribs at the restaurant.
In my opinion these ribs are the best on the island.
They are made from baby pigs! That's why the bones are so small!
But Fish and Chips is also recommended if you go there.
I've had that only ones so far but will for sure have it again.

The Players lounge is when you walk from Los Cristianos, pass through the tunnel,
get to the big fountain that is down at the score of San Telmo Beach and look up to
the right onto the second floor. There it is!
They serve homemade English food.

Notice you end up in the right restaurant when
the neighbor restaurants are very close by!

Parking Offence

It's not the first time somebody is parking the car like the black car on these photos.
It happens every now and then and it's always at the same spot where the trash bins are.

Imagine if somebody comes in a high speed down the hill when the red car is going to pass the wrong parked car!
It didn't happen this time but I got a few shocks, when cars were passing, while I was sitting sunbathing on the balcony. Fortunately every car driver made it this time.
Normally the 'Gruas' come and pick up wrong parked cars but they never showed up.

Foot Pedicure

There's a 'new business' down at the beach walk now. You can for 7 Euros get a 15 minutes fish pedicure.

You just clean your feet and then stick them down into a water tank containing a lot of small carp fishes from Turkey, called Garra Rufa.
They are like small doctor fishes that lick or such away the dead human skin from your feet.
People who have tried the service say the fishes tickle when they are removing the skin.
I haven't tried it myself.

The treatment was recently banned in 14 states in America, and some opponents argue that it should not be allowed anywhere.
Health officials over there fear the fish could spread infections to customers through open wounds or that a customer’s tiny nicks could become infected.
Some of the saloons in America charge $60 for a 30 minute treatment.

Here on Tenerife it anyhow has become a popular treatment among the tourists and you can find fish tanks in Las Americas, Los Cristianos and in Puerto Colon.

A Stalker

Last night when I walked home from work a Spanish guy started following me.
He was at Lewinskis in the night looking at me.
I told him to go away but he didn't take any notice and just continued walking beside me talking to me in Spanish telling me how beautiful he thinks I am etc. Oh, I became so scared!

Finally an other Spanish man on the street came and saved me.
He walked on the street and I looked at him with eyes saying *Please, help me!* and he stopped and looked at us. Then I told the stalker to leave me alone and walk away and he had to do so when the other man stood there and heard what I said. Praise God!

I was very scared when I got home and I walked around in the apartment and checked that all the windows were closed even when I live on the second floor.

I can still imagine how he's face looked and I feel scared when I think about it.
He looked like he was very confused like not being in this world and his eyes were very glassy.

If he shows up again I will have to look for somebody who can come and get me every night and walk home with me. It would probably not be so expensive when I only live a couple of blocks away from where I work.

My Farm

My Farm 28.07.2010.

When Mr X went over to England I started playing the Farmville game with some of my friends on Facebook.
It's a good way to get the time going and it keeps me busy not feeling so alone when he's not here.
I have now reached level 34 and the photo above is how my farm looks now.

Sarah-Jaynes Birthday Party

Last night when it was my night off I was invited to a birthday party.
My friend Sarah-Jayne from Ireland turned 19 years old.

The night started with dinner at restaurant Bistro
(the real one that is located in the little alley in
the center of Los Cristianos).
Later we went over to Charly's bar and spent the night there.

Sarah-Jayne, Daddy James, Sister Rachael and me.

James and I had lamb shoulders and they were really nice.

Sarah-Jayne and the birthday cake at the Charly bar.

Waiter Alberto is cutting the cake.

Gordon King was entertaining.

Ethan Castle, Preston UK

About three years ago I met Ethan for the first time here on Tenerife.
It was when I sang with Clas at the Charly bar here in Los Cristianos.
He was visiting the island with his Grandma' and Grandpa'.

About a week ago they were back on Tenerife and showed up one night at Lewinskis.
I barely could believe my eyes when Ethan suddenly got up on the dance floor and started dancing to the song Hillbilly Rock Hillbilly Rolls!
He had become an excellent dancer!

He has lately given a show every night he has visited Lewinskis and last night I made a video clip to show you what his dance looks like.
It's amazing!!!

Last night he was dressed as the Spanish football players to honor that Spain won the football game against Germany. The terrace at Lewinskis was crowded and it was so nice when many Spanish people were there celebrating.

Farmville

My farm in Farmville.
I have been growing blueberries today and
the photo was taken before the harvest.

If somebody have visited my wall on the Facebook they might think the 'game devil' has possessed me?! The wall is filled with Farmville statements!
I have been playing the Farmville game every day the last two weeks and I'm already in world 22.

It was a friend of mine, Karin from Sweden, who invited me to join the game and I decided to give it a try.
First I thought it was a little bit boring to just seed and harvest fruits and vegetables but when I got further into the game it became more interesting.
Now it's just fun to try to get more stuff so that I can build up a real beautiful farm.

Farmville is a very creative game and it's interesting to watch how friends from different nations arrange their farms.
The Americans i.e. put their fruit trees in many rows like on the fruit fields in Florida, while the Scandinavians often use the trees as decorations in their gardens putting one here and an other there.

As soon as I started the game I discovered many of my Facebook friends already had joined.
They started sending me all kind of gifts and construction materials and kept me busy receiving and placing the gifts. Without their input I would not yet have been so far into the game.

This game keep me busy all day around now.
I'm right now trying to earn as much money as possible to be able to buy some nice buildings and decorations. I haven't even got a mention to live in yet and as soon as I get one I will start arranging a beautiful garden around it, probably with a pool and everything!

I figured out raspberries give the best benefit. The only problem is that you have to harvest and plow and then seed new seedlings every second hour! But it brings in a lot of money and when that's what I need now I'll have to stick to these fruits for a while.
I have to stay up late in the nights to bring in the harvest and get up early in the mornings to do the same, but it's just fun.

If you are on Facebook I now like to invite you to join the game!
We can become neighbors and help each other by sending material and gifts to each other.
NB! You don't have to became as crazy in playing like I am !!!
As soon as I get the boyfriend back on Tenerife I for sure will slow down a little bit and become more normal!

Have a nice evening!

Thanx to all of you who have helped me out with my farm

Lewinski 25.06.2010

I got a nice surprise Thursday night at Lewinskis.
About 15 line dancers suddenly showed up and I sang line dance songs the whole night through.
It haven't been many dancers the last 2-3 weeks.
It was such a lovely night and I wish we would have so many dancers in all the time.
I like to sing when the dance floor is crowded and the dancers who visited Lewinski last night knew almost every dance for the songs that I sang.

In the last break Elvis (Tony Warburton) showed up.
He's a mate of Mr X, and now also a friend of me.
He has got a real nice Elvis voice and sang a couple of songs for us.
A real nice surprise!

I made a video clip in the beginning of last night, but forgot to take a clip of Elvis.
I will do my best to remember the camera next time he shows up!

Please, click on the little arrow if you like to watch some of the dancers dancing.

The Dreamers Bar

I went out again last night after work so my plan to be a good girl hasn't really come true yet.
But I anyhow don't drink much when I'm out and it's more about socializing than drinking.

A guy from Irland asked me to come with him to The Dreamers Bar and I got home about 3 o'clock in the morning which is not bad. That's the normal bedtime for me.

I made a short video clip.
Please, click on the small arrow if you like to watch it.
I don't know the name of the singer when he is a man from the audience.
Mark and Darren, the musicians at Dreamers, often
have guest artists singing.

My Dinner

Tonight I went out to Fortuna Nova for a meal.
This is what I had: Chicken Soup, Ribs and Chocolate Mousse.
Guess if I'm stuffed!!!
But I must start loosing weight now again so I will soon start takin' it easy.
This was only an exception!

.

Mr X is leaving

Mr X is leaving for England tonight.
He's right now out moving his car to his friends garage and will soon be back and start packing the suitcases.
It will be very boring when he's not here. I've already become so used to have him in my house and I will for sure start feeling lonely.

We have been out to The Claddagh Bar two nights in a row now and I feel a little bit tired today.
It's good it's a night off and I can go early to bed.
I have decided to become a good girl when he leaves and I will only go out two nights a week, i.e. Sundays and Mondays when I'm off. We'll see!

It was very quiet last night at Lewinski. The most quiet night I have had since I started singing there.
Only about 15 people visited the restaurant during the night and I stopped singing already at 11pm.
It's not many tourists here now but hopefully the tourism will come up again in the end of the week.

A Man Lives With Me

I'm sorry I don't blog much right now.
It's only because I really don't know what to say.

Sometimes so much is going on in my life that I almost become scared of the blogging.
You know, I like to have a private life too!
I start thinking that the people who know what's going on in my life probably will look at me like a false person if I just continue blogging about this and that not telling anything about what's really going on.
So if I don't blog it's many times because something is going on that I really don't like to tell or don't know how to tell...*smile*

Anyhow I will tell you one secret today an that is that Mr X (the English boyfriend that I started dating in February) is living with me!
He,he! I really can hear how some of you is saying; 'Oh that was too quickly!'
But, please, don't be too shocked! It's only temporary and he is going home to England on Tuesday night to take care of his house + maybe look for a new tenant...and he will stay away from Tenerife for a while because of this.
So from Wednesday I will live on my own again!

Now I have told you one of my secrets...*gust*
I'm going to sing at Lewinski tonight and I'll have to start doing the makeup now to get ready in time.
Have a nice evening!

I'll Start Playing Guitar!

The temperature is about +25 degrees tonight and I have been line dancing and singing at Lewinskis. My hair is wet like the fur on a soaked cat and I will have a shower as soon as I have finished this post.
It's really warm to wear the cowboy hat now and I had it on tonight...stupid me!
(I'm afraid that if I have the shower first I will forget about the blogging just curling up to bed.)

A lot has been going on the last days and nights and because of that I haven't been blogging at all.
My English boyfriend (Mr X) has moved out from his apartment and I have helped him with that.
One night we were moving stuff til 7.30 in the morning!
Now I'm helping him to get all the clothes in order.
I think it will take a couple of more days because he has got a lot of clothes.

He,he! He must be a brand freak! He only uses brands like Bench, Yves Saint Laurent, Tommy Hilfiger, French Connection, Timberland, Calvin Klein, Adidas etc.
He told me before that he would be afraid to marry me when I would cost him so much money, telling him we must buy this and that... but now it's me thinking the same about him!
Even his socks are brands!!! I almost couldn't believe it!!!
I buy cheaper clothes than him and when he has about as much clothes as me he is the one who is more expensive! Don't you agree?

I got a Epiphone Gibson guitar from him the other day and as soon as I get time I will start doing rehearsal on it.
I don't promise that I will start playing guitar on the stage. I know a little bit about how to play on it but I anyhow don't think that I'm good enough to play at the same time as I sing on the stage... We'll see!

Now I'll have a shower. Good Night!

The guitar I've got looks similar to this one but
mine has got 6 strings.
Roy Orbison had one with 12 strings.

My Night Off

Oh what a night! It's 3.30 am, and I am very tired, but I decided to blog before I go to bed when I have a lot to do tomorrow and I will probably not get time to be on the internet.

I met a Spanish friend, Jimmy, out on town tonight.
He asked me to join for a beer and after that we spent the whole night together.
It was a nice night and I even remembered to take photos which I normally forget.
Around 2 o'clock in the night we met the chef of Lewinski and his friends
Guillermo and Lis.
He invited us to come and have a chat at the restaurant where they sat.
I have got to speak Spanish again and I really like it!!!

Jimmy thinks that I have beautiful eyes but I think
his are more beautiful than mine.

We visited among other places The Irish Jangles Bar.
Mikey Mike was singing there like he always do on Fridays.
He is very good!

Lunch with Antonio

Restaurant Galeon is at the beachfront in Los cristianos, with a
view over the harbor, and you can watch the ferries coming and going.

I have spent the whole afternoon out on town with Antonio, a Spanish guy who is a friend of mine. He is actually a real Canarian, born and grown up here on the island.

He invited me to come out for lunch with him today and we went to one of his favorite restaurants down at the seafront here in Los Cristianos, called El Bar Galeon.
The meal was really lovely and I will for sure be back.

I have been speaking Spanish the whole afternoon and I must tell you I am very surprised about how much Spanish I have learned since I moved down to the island. We were chatting about everything between heaven and earth and I understood everything that he said and he understood everything that I said!
I am so happy now! I understand much more Spanish than I ever thought even when I don't speak it correctly!
His brother Manolo also showed up after a while and I could even understand what they were saying to each other even when they use the difficult Canarian accent when they talk.

Antonio invited me today to come with him to the neighbor island La Palma for a few days.
He has been there many times and would like to show me the whole island.
We would rent a car when we get there and travel around and look at everything that's of interest.
To be honest with you it's quite interesting when I haven't seen La Palma yet, but we'll see!

La Palma is called "La isla bonita" among the Canarians, which in English means "The beautiful island", so it's for sure a beautiful island.
I have, anyhow, not promised to go there yet when I don't really know how my future is gonna be. I must think about it for a while before I decide.
Maybe I also will work so much now that I don't get the possibility to go there...?! We'll see!

Notice the hand of Antonio!
He has a lot of tattoos every where and I think his hand looks so cool.

Not much Swedish now

I have spent the whole afternoon with my friend Cattis from Sweden.
She lives here on Tenerife.
We always have a lot to chat about when we meet and I like to spend time with her.

First we went down to the San Telmo beach for sunbathing, and later we moved up to The Target Bar and sat there chatting for a couple of more hours.
Her mom also joined us at the bar which was nice.

It's very seldom I meet Scandinavians here in the summertime and it struck me today that it's a long time since I last talked Swedish, my mothers language, for a whole afternoon.
As a matter of fact a few Scandinavians have visited Lewinski lately, but I don't get much time to sit down and talk during the nights when I work.
Right now days pass without any Swedish speech at all...
I mostly talk English and some Spanish.

Now I will have a shower and then go out for dinner.

Have a nice evening,

Missunderstanding

Oh, I have been so shocked the whole night but still singing at Lewinski trying to keep a 'poker face' like nothing has happened.

I read a massage written in English about an hour before I went to work last night and became so shocked that I didn't know how I even would be able to sing.
But you know...when you are working on a stage the show must go on...

Anyhow, when I got back home I got to know that everything was a mistake.
I had totally miss-understood the message and now I'm slowly getting back to a normal breathing. Praise God!

Good Night!
